Craving Change?

Envision a warm summer evening with great friends & family, food, wine, fun...  It's a beautiful gathering but you are struggling to enjoy it, self conscious or anxious about how you look or how you feel disappointed about your choices you have made.

Is there a way to get through life and wonderful gatherings without the stress of "dieting"?

Yes.

Mindful Eating Program

A Sustainable Solution for Permanent Weight Loss

Mindful eating comes along with this and making the conscious effort to want to do this.  Try to stop yourself before you indulge and say, “will this 5 minutes of gratification be worth it?”  You then have to give yourself something else to eat or do instead.  Have a protein choice and volumetrics from fruit and vegetables or go and have a swim in the lake.  If you feel those chips are still calling you then tell yourself this…  nothing tastes as good as it feels to feel healthy and feel good about yourself.

Envision that warm summer evening again with great friends & family and you catch yourself smiling, as you feel so empowered inside.

This is a whole different experience that you can’t put a price on.

I want to help you get that feeling.

Exercise comes along with this, and it can be shorter session that are easy to fit in.  Exercise improves overall markers of health, cognition and happy hormones - and can help burn off a few extra calories enjoyed with family & friends.

Mindful eating can change your life.

Craving Change™ Mindful Eating Program

The key is to create your own manual of thoughts and food choices.  Stop telling yourself what you shouldn’t be doing all the time and start telling yourself what you should do instead.  This can be the hardest part.

Changing habits can happen.

At Cassandra Reid & Associates, we have incorporated a cognitive behavioural approach with the Craving Change ™ Mindful Eating Program and Eating Mindfully (Dr. Susan Albers www.eatingmindfully.com). Not Ready Yet? Try This On Your Own

Feeling hungry is no fun.

Get that full feeling we are all looking for with Protein and Volumetrics.

We are all looking for feelings of satisfaction and fullness from food.  If we feel satisfied at our next meal or snack we will be more likely to make a better choice.  This can help our concentration levels, energy levels and most importantly weight and health.

When planning your meals and snacks, think of your protein source first.  Examples include, meat, chicken, fish, nuts and seeds, peanut butter, eggs, low fat dairy (yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese and milk), legumes (chickpeas and kidney beans), lentils, soy and tofu. Once your have found your protein source, the next step is to give your meal some volume with fruit and vegetables.

Volumetrics is a termed coined by dietitian Barbara Rolls.  Her research has found foods that are higher in volume but less dense in calories.  Which in turn gives us more food but fewer calories; therefore, weight loss.  Protein helps you feel more satisfied, vegetables and fruit will fill you up (and some can be considered free in calories!) and we need to watch our starch portions (crackers, breads and cereals, potato, rice and pasta). Removing starch from one meal and replacing it with a salad or additional vegetables can decrease the overall calories of a meal and make your feel more full.  This will help to "shave" calories off your day which will help with weight loss and maintenance.
