Cassandra Reid

Cassandra Ionson Reid is a Registered Dietitian (RD) in private practice. Cassandra graduated as a RD upon completion of a Comprehensive Dietetic Internship at the University Health Network, which includes, Toronto General, Toronto Western and Princess Margaret Hospitals. Cassandra holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition from Ryerson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology from Bishop’s University in Canada.

Cassandra has worked in the private practice setting over the last eight years. She is a mother of three girls, which expands her experience in time management and healthy eating on the go. She is a member and participant with Dietitians of Canada (DC) and the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO).  She works at Cleveland Clinic Canada with the Executive Health Programs.  As well, she works closely with Shepell •fgi with their telecounseling. Additionally, has worked with Public Health, Egg Marketing Board, Dannon, and Dairy Farmers of Ontario.  She has worked with Public Health in their post-natal nutrition programs for high- risk, low socioeconomic status women.

Cassandra has completed an extensive research project that studied malnutrition in liver transplant patients. The result of this work has lead to significant changes in nutrition care plans for this population. Cassandra’s focus is on preventative health care. Her nutritional counseling is patient-centered and provides individuals with self-directed tools to make healthy decisions for sustainable lifestyle changes.

She provides individual and group counseling and “Lunch & Learns” for: healthy heart eating for cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure; diabetes; pregnancy; nutrition through the lifespan; family nutrition; nutrition for athletes; vegetarian and vegan diets; weight loss and weight gain; eating disorders; gout; gastric reflux; polycystic ovarian disease; cancer; renal disease; liver disease; liver and lung transplants; celiac disease; diverticulitis; colitis and irritable bowel disorders.
