Meet Cassandra
Cassandra Reid, BA, BASc, RD is a Registered Dietitian (RD) in private practice. Cassandra successfully graduated as a RD upon completion of a Comprehensive Dietetic Internship at the University Health Network, which includes, Toronto General, Toronto Western and Princess Margaret Hospitals. Cassandra holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition from Ryerson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Psychology from Bishop’ University and College of Charleston in South Carolina.
Cassandra has worked in the private practice setting over the last eighteen years. She runs her own in-person and virtual nutrition practice. She has also worked with Cleveland Clinic Canada. She was part of the interdisciplinary team (Doctors, Dietitians, exercise physiologists and psychologists) at Cleveland Clinic Canada who are renowned for their level of patient care and research in the US and Canada. She is a mother of three girls, which expands her experience in time management and healthy eating.
Cassandra is a member and participant with Dietitians of Canada (DC) and is registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO). As well, she is an active member in the Consulting, Diabetes, Obesity and Cardiovascular networks. Furthermore, Cassandra has completed an extensive research project that studied malnutrition in liver transplant patients. The result of this work has lead to significant changes in nutrition care plans for this population.
Cassandra’s focus is on preventative health care. Her nutritional counselling is patient-centered and provides individuals with self-directed tools to make healthy decisions for realistic sustainable lifestyle changes. Making plans that are about the individual … it doesn’t matter what works for one person her goal is to help you figure out what works for you. Furthermore, she incorporates the mindful and Intuitive (Cognitive Behavioral) approaches to healthy eating. She provides individual in-person, telephone or virtual counseling for: healthy heart eating for cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and the metabolic syndrome; diabetes; insulin resistance; pregnancy; nutrition through the lifespan; family nutrition; nutrition for athletes; vegetarian and vegan diets; weight loss; explaining where FAD diets fit; weight gain; eating disorders; gout; gastric reflux (GERD); polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS); thyroid; cancers; renal /kidney disease; liver disease; liver and lung transplant nutrition; celiac disease; diverticulitis; crohn’s and colitis (inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) ); FODMAP; food sensitivities and irritable bowel disorders (IBS).
